This is a serious question. Microsoft Media Player has
caused some serious problems in my personal life. Okay,
what happened is I went to view my significant other's
video clips and a bunch of "vulgar" video clips were
there. He says that he did not download them. The
question is IS IT POSSIBLE FOR FILES TO BE COME INTO
MICROSOFT MEDIA PLAYER WITHOUT YOU DOWNLOADING THEM AND
IF SO HOW CAN WE STOP THESE PORNOGRAPHIC VIDEOS FROM
GETTING IN OUR MEDIA PLAYER
Please help,
you will make or break our relationship if you can answer
this question
Dear wmt:
First, please consider what you just said. If your relationship is such
that it can be made or broken by a response to a newsgroup post, it's not
really just a Windows Media Player problem you're having, is it? Okay, I
understand- you didn't really mean that to be taken literally and you were
upset when you typed it.
Did you find these files in the Media Player playlist, then? Are those
files currently stored on your hard drive or are these pop-up sorts of porn
things you're seeing? If they are pop-ups of some sort your significant
other may have accidentally installed spyware on your system, just like
millions of other innocent computer users. This free software was designed
to address this rampant problem:

If you find those files all neatly arranged in a folder on the hard drive
then it's probable that they were downloaded and stored deliberately, BUT
let's give your guy the benefit of the doubt here! There are many, many
thousands of deliberately mis-named files available out there on the
filesharing networks these days! The recording industry and their minions
make these files available to confound people who download music and movies
in an attempt to make them give up trying to download stuff for free.
And hey, it's easy to click on one thing when you meant to click on another.
Like, you thought you were downloading a German submarine war movie but then
you accidentally end up with "Das Boob." I'm not making this stuff up- it
could happen.
Truth be told, I once downloaded "On Golden Blonde" on purpose. And a
couple of sequels, come to think of it. But it doesn't mean I love my wife
any less- she is the most wonderful person I will ever meet and I will love
her deeply and forever. And my wife has since downloaded some similar
material and we've watched it together; all of which is my way of saying, in
answer to your original question, that your Media Player is probably working
just fine.
Regards from Toronto,
Ian.
