Please help

I can't get into any programs at all I keep getting an
error message saying "windows cannot find 'c:\relevant
programe.exe' make sure you typed the name correctly, and
then try again, click the start button, and then click
search" I've tried what it's telling me to do but it
doesn't help, I've also tried system restore but I can't
access the program. I've tried to reinstall some software
via the cd rom but I can't access any installation
programs off the cd.I can't get into any office programs
directly but I can get into them via previously saved
documents.I've also been recommended to change registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\exefile\shell\open\com
mand from string C:\WINDOWS\file32.exe "%1" %* to string
C:\WINDOWS\"%1" %* but my default string is
C:\WINDOWS\setdbg.exe "%1" %* and not the above
mentioned. i can only access the regedit file by right
clicking and selecting run as, as opposed to open by
doing this any changes i try to make isn't being
saved.I've also tried to reinsatll windows xp but i can't
access the option to install on the cd. I would
appreaciate any help at all as i'm getting pretty annoyed
at this, at the moment my pc is increasingly useless.

Try this, go to www.dougknox.com, click "Win XP Fixes," find "Restore
Default Associations Easily" in the right column, click it and follow the
instructions.
