Please do not post in CAPS. It's the equivalent of shouting.

Have you tried restarting your computer and allowing chkdsk to run?

What message did you get when you tried it? The exact words?

when the pc restarts a blue screen comes up and says the disk needs to be
checked and then it cancels the scan automatic. and then the pc continues to
load up to the desktop. when i try to run the defrag a box comes up that says
disk defragmenter has detected that chkdsk is scheduled to run on
volume:(c). please run chkdsk/f.

when i run the advanced window care2 it says awcl.exe- corrupt file the
file or directory c: is corrupt and unreadable please run chkdsk utility.
can u tell me step by step how to do this? thanks

Joyce

Advanced WindowCare is a registry cleaner and no the type of utility
most experts here would recommend. A Registry Cleaner can do serious
damage to your system and is unlikely to bring a significant benefit. I
would uninstall it.

Try Start, Run, type cmd and hit Enter. Type cd\ and hit Enter. Type
chkntfs /d and hit enter. Type Exit. Restart your computer and see if
chkdsk runs. It may take a long time to complete.

Joyce, I'll echo Gerry's sentiments here regarding Advanced
WindowsCare. Using such a program is *highly* dangerous, and provides
essentially no benefit.

I tried what you guys suggested, it just will not run the chkdsk. i also
deleted the advanced window care. is this chkdsk thing keeping my screensaver
working? any other options that i can try? i hope you can help me.
thanks

i meant to say is the chkdsk problem keeping my screensaver from working?
i'm afraid my pc is gonna crash.

Try Start, Run, type cmd and hit Enter. Type cd\ and hit Enter. Type
fsutil dirty query C: and hit Enter. Type Exit. Restart your computer
and see if chkdsk runs. It may take a long time to complete.

If that does not work another way to investigate your hard drive is to
use HD Tune.

Try HD Tune only gives information and does not fix any
problems.

Download and run it and see what it turns up. You want HD Tune
(freeware) version 2.55 not HD Tune Pro (not Freeware) version 3.00.
http://www.hdtune.com/

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on the drive under Drive
letter and then double click the two page icon ( copy to Clipboard )
and copy into a further message.

Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message. Make sure you do a full
surface scan with HD Tune.
