I have amd athlon with xp1, and recently had fitted by a repairer, an asus motherboard and 512 mb memory card , my old motherboard ceased to work and he replaced my two 256 memory cards with the larger one. after a couple of weeks i was getting messages that the memory was near full so i installed an extra 512 mb memory card, and again all was fine. Now i am getting all sorts of problems. first if i watch a video the moniter flashes on and off several times and then the machine shuts down and i have to reboot. If i download files from the internet they start then stick, i leave for a few minuites but nothing happens again i have to reboot, and now if i try to copy a dvd, i get about half way through and it stops and i get the message this computer has recovered from a fatal error. I have tried 1click dvd copy, nero, media player. All with the same results. As i am typing this, the letters are not appearing for second or more. I have scanned with updated mcafee for virusses and have checked with xoftspy and mcafee for any adware. MY systemn is clean I have also run registry repair pro and tuneup utileties several times and i have also deleted quite a few old programmes to get more memory, but all is still the same. i would be gratefull for any advice.

That sounds like a loose connection on your display cables (check back of pc and back of monitor) or your graphics card is on the blink, or it might be a software problem, check your video software (with whatever you use) is patched and up to date.

not to sure about anything else though, wait for someone with more knowledge to post :D

re please help

I forgot to add, i have a nvidea gforce fx 5200 video card. I installed this some months ago, and reinstalled it after the mother board was changed. Just one other thing the motherbord software is telling me that the temperature is too hot. I guess the fan needs changeing.

I feel this has to do with cpu temprature or memory that u have added.
First try using with your cabinet cover open as it should give fresh air circulation.
Else try removing 512 mb which u added later.
