There's no such thing.... Are you talking about Windows XP Profession
Edition or one of the several editions of Office XP? They're two
completely different products, but, even so, the remainder of your post
makes very little sense it the context of either.

I can't get the password lock page....

What's a "password lock page?" I've never heard of any such term in
20+ years of supporting computers.

to go away after turning of the password to start up windows.

Does "turning of the password" mean that you're trying to change the
password? If not, what does it mean? You shouldn't need to change the
password each time you start the computer. If a password prompt is
appearing *before* Windows starts, then it has to be a BIOS password.
Consult the manual that came with the computer for instructions on
enabling/disabling the BIOS password.

its
annoying and time consuming whn you just need to get to files with
customers standing there.....

Then why would you wait until you have a "customer is standing there"
before turning on the computer? Wouldn't it present a more professional
and customer-oriented image for you to be ready to work *before* a
customer enters your place of business?

can anyone tell me how in the world do i
get that screen not to come up? thanks,Jess

Not based upon the complete lack of usable information you've provided.
No one can help if you don't provide at least a modicum of information.

I'm guessing here but you might want to try the following:

Go to Start -> Control Panel and double click on Display.
Click on the "Screen Saver" tab.
Remove the check mark from the box next to "On resume,...".
Next, click on the Power button.
In Power Options, click on the Advanced tab.
Remove the check mark from the box next to "Prompt for password
when computer resumes from standby".

If that doesn't fix the problem, post back with a better
explanation of what you want help with.

Thanks for making me feel like an idiot...............
let me revise my question.........

first of all, its xp pro.
ok, I had a password lock on the puter when you first start it up(i
guess this is your BIOS) , i went to the adiministrator page and
unchecked password lock, but every time i turn on the PC i still get
promted for the password. all i have to do is hit enter without a
password. my question ( sorry i wasn't more clear) was is there a way
to get the that password prompt to stop coming up?( it is a blue screen
that says "user name" and underneath is the place to enter the
password.
Nepatsfan, thanks for not treating my post like some idiot not knowing
anything about computers. I just simply rushed and didnt check what I
was saying. I did the thing you told me to, but its not the screen
saver p/w. thanks again.
I just needed alittle help with this page.

Are you referring to the supervisor or user password that is usually
set in the BIOS. This would be the first password that comes up
when you boot the system. This will happen even before the WIN XP
starts.
If this is the case, watch your screen on boot up and look to see what
it says to do hit to enter the setup. This could be the delete key,
the F2 or even the F12 key. Some PC's may also have it set to hit the
CTRL and F2. Watch your screen and it what it says. Then go into the
BIOS and find the section that says something about Security. This is
where you will find the password setup. All you probably would have to
do is hit the enter key twice to clear the password, but check either
the screen or even better yet, the owners manual.
Hope this helps.

ty so much for helping me, although that didnt do the trick, i'm still
stuck with that blue screen. I forgot to mention, i also have this on
my home puter wich is also windows xp pro. I had my pc password
protected b/c of the kids going on my pc without my permission ( darn
teens.lol) then i gave up and took off the password lock. now, when i
turn on my pc, it comes to the windows screen, then a blue screen wich
shows a box in the middle of it asking for a password. If you just hit
enter, it logs you onto windows. i was just wondering how you get that
"log on" screen to not show up every time i turn my pc back on(either
one). because of this, i also cant get into any of the other accounts
on my home pc. I have one for the kids, and one for my hubby also. that
i just can't access. Sorry for being anal with my other reply, i guess i
went into defense mode cause i felt i was being made fun of and didnt
apreciate it. thanks for taking your time to help me and read this very
long post. Any help would be appreciated. thank you,Jess

Dan, thanks again. I tried doing what you said, i can't seem to get into
the bios tho. that at the top of the set up page and I can't access it.
ok, am i a pain in the neck or what???? LOL. but i might be a p.i.t.a
but i am naturally a good hearted person who at the moment is going to
throw this away and buy a new one just to get rid of that page. lol, i
am going to go back in and see what i can do. is it ok to give your aol
im name on here. maybe I can explain better there if its ok with you. my
name on there is (e-mail address removed), email and im. thanksd again for
your patients.Jess
oh, and you hit the nail on the head with what i am trying to get rid
of, thanks ;)

Jess,

What I think you're seeing is the "Logon to Windows" dialog
box. The user name that is listed is that of the last account
that logged on to the computer. In order to log on with another
account, such as those you've set up for hubby and the kids,
you can click in the User Name box and start typing the name of
the user account you want to log in with.

That said, you'd probably be better off setting up your home
computer to use the Welcome Screen instead of the logon box.
The Welcome Screen displays all of the accounts that exist on
your computer. To use the Welcome Screen, you'll need to do the
following:

Go to Start -> Control Panel and double click on User Accounts.
Under "Pick a Task...", click on "Change the way user log on or
off".
Under "Select Logon and Logoff Options", put a check mark in
the boxes next to "Use the Welcome Screen" and "Use Fast User
Switching".
Hit the "Apply Options" button.
Close User Accounts.
Now, hit the Start button and select Logoff from the menu.
Hit the Logoff button.
You should now see the Welcome Screen with all of your
computers user accounts listed.
Click on the icon for your account to logon to Windows.

As for logging on to Windows automatically, you'll need to do
the following:

Go to Start -> Run and enter the following in the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Click OK.
The User Accounts dialog box should pop up.
On the Users page, uncheck "Users must enter a user name and
password to use this
computer".
In the box that pops up, replace Administrator in the "User
Name" box with your user account name.
Note: You can leave the password box blank if your account does
not have a password.
Click OK twice and reboot to see if you're automatically logged
onto Windows with your account.

Now, when you want to logon with a different account you have
two options.
1. Start your computer and wait till it finishes logging into
your account. You can then go to Start -> Log off and either
log off or switch users.
2. Start your computer but this time hold down the Shift key.
This will prevent your account from being automatically logged
on and will display the Welcome Screen. Once the Welcome Screen
is displayed, you can logon with the apporpriate account.
