i tried to install a new modem (2-different brands)only to
make it all the way through the driver install process to
get the message, "hardware install failed", the last try
was with a u.s. robotics modem. thier tech support says
its a microsoft problem with a hardware layer issue.
knowledge base # q237566 and it will have to be corrected
before any future attempt will be accepted. i being the
computer dummy that i am, read the article and i am still
lost.. WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO TO MAKE THIS INSTALL WORK???
any help greatly appreceiated!!!

Visit http://www.usr.com/support/s-main-menu.asp and download the latest
drivers designed to work with Windows XP and your specific modem model.
Then visit http://www.usr.com/support/s-voice/s-voice-docs/5695-xp/5695_WinXP.html
and follow the installation procedure.
