I'm after a new laptop, and want to spend about £450, (Perhaps a little
more) but am totally confused about which CPU I should go for.

In the good old days it was simple, but now seems so complicated.

Please could anyone give me some pointers, as to which one I should go for.

Many Thanks

Mike

Yes...but it depends what you are going to be using your laptop for.

General use, really.

Net, Word Processing, Games (Just a few), and Video. May also use it to
encode Video Files.

Thanks

If you just wanted a laptop to check your email...
I'd say to just get an inexpensive one...
but since you will be using it for video... get a dual core cpu.

One of the less expensive dual-core cpu's should do the job...
then get as much RAM as you can afford.

Also. I'd recommend trying to get one with XP rather than Vista...
I don't think they've got the bugs out of Vista yet!

Thanks for the advice, but the real headache I'm getting is all the
Processor Type and numbers.

They seem to bare no relation to speed, like in the good old days, where you
new where you were.

T7300,T710, T520, T540, T2310 All just goes over my head.

I'll will take your advice and stick with XP, Vista way to slow and buggy at
the moment.

Intel's website gives the performance numbers for all of their processor
models.
