I am trying to connect to my Windows XP Pro machine at home using my Vista
laptop at another location. Windows Vista keeps giving me error 800 when I
try to connect. I've tried the connection on a different Windows XP laptop,
and it works just fine, so I know I have the IP address, user name, password,
etc. correct. Also, I do not have any firewall software installed except for
the built-in Windows Firewall. I also installed an update from Microsoft (KB
930163) thinking it could be part of the problem, but it didn't work. Can
anyone help? Thank you!

I just needed to specifiy TCP/IP addresses manually for VPN clients instead
of allowing them to be assigned automatically using DHCP. To do this, just
go to the properties for your "Incoming Connection." Go to the "Networking"
tab, and double click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)." Then, select "Specify
TCP/IP addresses" and type in your own range of addresses to be given out to
clients.

I am trying to connect to my office computer using a vpn connection and
receive error 800, unable to establish connection.

I can connect from the same machine on a virtural pc usinb win xp so somehow
it must be vista security.
