Please help with installation issues - Win2000. How can I install drivers?

My son gave me a Brother MFC 3100C combination printer, fax, and
scanner combo.

He gave me the setup disk and I tried to install the printer.
Whenever I try to run the setup, I get a message that says "Please
install PaperPort first."

PaperPort is apparently some kind of third-party print manager tool.

I have tried Google, Brother's web site, and PaperPort's web site and
can find no way around this message. Google shows me reference to the
question being asked several times, but never being answered.

Is there a way to somehow to just get the drivers from somewhere and
install them directly without using the Setup program?

I tried to use the Add Printer from Control Panel but this did not
work either.

Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

PaperPort is a scanner software package.

There's a full driver and software package at the Brother website (which may
the exact same one you have)
http://welcome.solutions.brother.co...d=mfc3100c_us&type2=-1&os=all&flang=all&dlid=

But if it still gives the same message and your son swears there's no extra
disk, I'd contact Brother and see what they suggest.

I've tried all that.

It is the exact same package that I already have.

I couldn't even find a way to contact them on their website. I am
going to keep looking.

I'm thinking that maybe I could just pull the drivers out of the
install package and install them myself.

Is that even an option or make any sense as an idea to pursue?

Thanks for your help.

They give a phone number as well as email... you might even get hold of a
real person!

I see what happened. I wasn't at the Brother-USA site. I was using a
corporate web site that had you click on a country.

I can probably find everything I need here.

I checked out your web site for a couple minutes. It looks very
interesting. I will check it out again after I get done installing
this printer-fax deal.

Thanks again for your help.
