0.25 insted of - 25%.

Hourly Cost Direct Cost
$30.00 $750.00
$25.00 $1,000.00
$25.00 $2,250.00
$4,000.00

Price to customer $4,000.00

Tax Rate 25%
Tax Costs $1,000.00

Total Costs
Staff $4,000.00
Taxes $1,000.00

Laura

Hi Laura,

What data is in which cells?
And what do you fill in in the GoalSeek dialog?

I want to determine the profit margin between 20% and 30% from the Price to
Customer and Total Cost.

Set Cell: $D$18
To value: 20%
By Changing Cell $D$7
I just don’t know the formula for the Margin Cell which is D18.

I hope this is enough information.
ThankYou, Laura

<I hope this is enough information.>

Not really :-)

So I repeat my question:

<What data is in which cells?>

And I add:

what formulas are in which cells?

And can you explain what you are trying to achieve?

that's okay...this is all so new to me. It's really hard for me to explain. I
just want to know the formula to get a -25% in the margin cell.... I'll keep
reserching for the answer

I went to Excel Custom Formats online and got my answer.
it is
=(D7-D16)/D7

Thank you for your time Niek. I appreciate you trying to help me considering
I could not explain myself.
Sincerely,
Laura

I do think you need a better business case than one that sees you with a
loss such as you describe though :-)

Either cut your costs or charge the customer more, because negative profits
such as yours won't keep the business alive.

Your answer is actually at odds with your request, where you had stated:-

<<....determine the profit margin between 20% and 30% from....>>

as -25% falls way outside those parameters. Are you sure you got all the
variables correct?

Regards
Ken..............
