Please help with Epson Stylus CX6400

I would like to set this printer's default to print using Black Ink Only. I
can set it in Advanced Properties but it holds only for the current print
job. How can I set to become the default without having to change it for
every print job?

How is Epson going to sell color inks if they let you do that?

Set it same way you did it before but open printer Advanced Properties from
Control Panel > Printers > "Your printer" (rigth mouse click and select
Properties).
 
I did that. I tried to print a test page from Notepad but from there when I
checked properties the "Black ink only" was still off.
I went back through the control panel and it was still on.
So how can I set this default to apply universally to all my printing jobs
till I decide that I want color?
 
Hmm..., I used to have Epson Stylus Color 400 and if I needed changes in
printer setting to apply to all the aplications using this printer I accesed
printer Properties from Control Panel or by going to
Start/Settings/Printers/"Your Printer" (right button click)/Properties. If
this won't retain new settings of the printer for all the applications maybe
someone else have an explanation.

Hi.

Try Control Panel > Printers > CX4600 > R. Click > Properties > Advanced >
Printer Defaults.

Set it there.
