Please help with DMA Vs. PIO

I have 2 hard drives. The secondary is stuck on PIO mide and I have it set to
DMA if available. It won't change from PIO to DMA. Please describe the steps
necessary to get the secondary hard drive to switch from PIO to DMA. I think
there is a way to do it through the registry but I am not certain. This
problem is causing a data drag between the 2 drives. Thanks in advance.
