I am a university English teacher in Korea and I want to setup four
separate discussion boards ( 4 classes) for my students to post to on
a weekly basis.

I already have a small web page set up. I am using Front Page 2003,
and my web server supports up to 30 MB... with FP extensions, and
PHP/SQL up to an additional 10MB.

I have been trying for several days to set up these discussion boards
and can't seem to figure it out, even with online MS help.

Can anyone walk me through this procedure or point me in the right
direction.

Thanks

I tried setting up a folder called "Forum" and then tried to change to
a subweb, no luck... then tried Discussion website template...no luck

Keep receiving errors.

Thx

Ok, When you use the Discussion Web Wizard, you must define the location for
the web during the initial setup, because once the discussion web has been
created, it can not be moved into a subweb.

You must have the current web open first, via File Menu | Open Web.

File Menu | New | Web Site | Discussion Web
then under options, specific the location of the new web as:
CurrentWebName/Forum

This will create the subweb call "Forum" and then guide you through the
steps of actually creating the discussion web files within the Forum subweb.

PS make sure your host supports subwebs before you try to create them

I think that may be my problem, I can't seem to log on twice or I get
an error message that a file cannot be created. I use "Newsguy" for a
host and they claim I have 30MB for Web Space and 10MB for PHP/SQL.

Sorry but I am just not that familar with web design and I am
frantically trying to address a need for my students communicative
tasks. Suggestions?

Thanks

Contact your host to verify they support the FP Server Extensions and subwebs

Yes my host supports FP Server Extensions, but when I try to create a
subweb using the discussion web template I get the following error
message " Server error: There is no per-page access control (Url is
~xxxx/_vti_bin/_vti_adm)

Wad

Open you online root web on your host server in FP
Create a folder - say: forum
Right click it and select convert to web
- if you get an error they don't support subwebs

Contact your host to see if they will allow you a subweb. If not, you won't
be able to have one.

Can you recommend a good, cheap, host that supports FP extensions and
subwebs?

Thanks for all the help guys!

Wad

I use www.terrasite.com. They have a special deal of $51 for one
year and support frontpage very well with access and even ms sql for
that price.

If you want to enlist then let me know and I will supply the url of
the 'special'.

If your host supports subwebs
Open your web, create a folder - say forum
and right click it to convert to web, then double click it to open the new subweb
and File New web and select the Discussion web Wizard
