Well... let me explain my situation... one of my friends gave me a link to a "game program", and it turned out to be a virus. I can't open any exe files, I stumbled along this when I was in help and support. I've tried clicking on System Restore in the Control Panel but I get this message(same message I get every time I try to open an exe) "Windows cannot find %SystemRoot...". What are other ways I can access System Restore??????? I've tried help and support and the method mentioned above. THANK YOU!.

Try running system restore in safe mode.
Keep pressing F8 while booting and see if you can restore.
If that does not work you can do a Repair Installation of XP.

You remember way back when you installed your Anti Virus?? and it asked you
to make a bootable disk so that you could run the program from the disk???

What do you mean while booting? While booting what? I just tried running it in safe mode, no go

I also didnt install this system. I got it from a rental company, and we finished the payments off in November, but they still havent sent the XP discs

Again, thanks for your help.
