Ok I am stumped I need help. I got two USB printers Epson and HP brand a new Emachine I have tried 3 different USB printer cables in all the USB port. I can install the software but windows XP Home edition will NOT recognize the printers, I have no idea what to do.

Do any other USB peripherals work through the computer's USB ports? If not
you have to go into the BIOS program to make sure the USB ports are actually
turned on: they should be by default but there is a reason Emachines are so
cheap.
Presumably there are USB ports in the back of the computer near the
PS2/network ports. These are obvioulsy hardwired into the motherboard. If
you are using case based USB ports you may find that there is no cable
connecting them to the motherboard.
If the USB ports work with other USB peripherals clearly it is a software
issue.
If you are using an add-in network card take it out of the machine and see
if that solves the problem; for obscure reasons many network cards want to
share the same resources as USB ports and they can't. Rarely other PCI cards
can do the same thing. Motherboard based network ports should not cause this
problem but who knows?
If the USB ports are working then there is likely a problem with the way the
printers were installed.
WIth USB printers you have to follow the installation procedures exactly or
the software will not correctly configure a virtual printer port for the USB
printer.
There really should not be a problem using two USB based printers on the
same computer: I use Canon and Epson printers this way.

That's kinda what I was thinking that it had something to do with the BIOS,
this is my dads machine so it is not in front of me. I did go into the BIOS
and I believe that the USB is turned on, but it also had a few options about
Legacy USB and Hi speed USB and I guess something that I am assuming meant
see Zip drives USB as a Floppy. he doesn't have any other USB to try.

Advisers need to know what operating system you
use (because some require extra USB drivers:
this should be documented in printer manuals,
many nowadays only on disk or on line.

Are you sure the ports are enabled in the BIOS?
