i have been haveing trouble getting windows updates to scan my comp then
when i does it will tell me error on page for either the express install or
the coutom install
i can not load the service pack 1 or 2 but all other updates have been
sucessfully installed.
when i first come here it took me 20 tries to get it to let ask a question
i am curently running xp and have run spybot, adaware, and mcaffe antivirus
but nothing shows up
is it safe to try uninstalling internet explorer and reinstalling it or is
there another solution?
please help and thank you in advance:)

What is the exact text of the error message?

Hi cimyss :-)

It is possible that you have some type of malware, spyware or such on your
system that can cause this problem. Try the following first and see if this
helps:

Download and install BHODemon from
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm
Your problem may be caused by a bad BHO.

If this does not resolve the problem, the do the following:

Windows Update Fails:
Click on START and the RUN put in each line seen below and clicked on
OK. (do each one line at a time)
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\wuapi.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\wuaueng.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\atl.dll
REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\System32\wucltui.dll

Disable your anti-virus when obtaining the updates.
Make sure that your firewall is allowing the connection to Windows Update .
This would be on ports 80 and 443.
