Please Help! Password forgotten

I have an Inspiron 1100 and it's been a while since we have been able to use it because we had to get a new power cord. During that time we have forgotten the password to log on to Windows. Can anybody help? A friend of mine said that there is a way of reformatting using DOS commands....I'm not worried about losing everything I have on it......I just want to be able to use it again! lol Any help would really be appreciated!! :o
 
I take it you are using Win XP ... if so, then DOS will not help you.

Just use the XP CD and start again with a clean install. ;)

It's hard to use DOS unless ur an expert

u can use ERD commander software which gana help u 2 reset ur password without any harm to the OS..

What is ERD commander software and how do I get it? I will be honest.....I don't have the money to put much into this. :(
 
You can use Active Password Changer - its is $39.99(£22) to buy the full version which allows you to actually change passwords using a bootable floppy, or you can download the free demo version and have a play to see if you think you will be able to cope using it.


Obviously you will have to download it and create the bootable floppy on another PC, then boot your Inspiron with it (remember to go into the bios first to change the primary boot device to floppy;) )

If as you say you are not worried about losing your files, then do as Mucks says and boot the PC from the Windows XP disc and install it again :thumb:
 
Quick and dirty password fix.

ERD is expensive for just password reset

look for ebcd. its an opensource emergency boot cd system for xp used to reset xp passwords.

I use it religiously to reset passwords & hack old systems with lost passwords

download the cd ISO and burn it on friends pc then KEEP IT Around for the future.
