i installed norton ghost to make a backup of my c drive
when i was trying to copy my c drive to a second partition norton give
a message he could not complete this action until this partition was
out of running programs, so i interrupted this action, to turn of
possible runnung programs. suddenly this second partition has
dissapeard, 50 gig of files lost, but the worst is that i lost an
animation film i was working on over a year, i did all i could think
of but this second partition is simply gone . i'm hopeless
somebody can give me some good advice to get it back???
sorry for my bad english, thanks

If you were backing up your drive to a 2nd partition and the 2nd partition
somehow got destroyed...
you'd still have your data on your original partition...

plus if the data was that important you certainly should have burned it to
*several* DVD's

anyway you'll need some 3rd party data recovery software if you want to
retrieve anything from your
backup partition

beste meerkat, ik neem aan dat u nederlandstalig bent;

im bussy now recovering this data, but still the partition is
unreachable, so i have 80 gig that i do not see,
do you have any idea how to get it back without repartitioning or
formatting ?
thanks for your reaction

Mikel, I hope you get some good advice on how to recover that
partition. Don't do anything until you get and digest that advice.
If you have doubts, take the computer to an expert for the best
chance of recovering your data.
You say the partition is gone, but I don't believe Ghost is stupid
enough to have actually deleted data from that partition.
I hope you were doing a "to image" copy and not a "to partition"
copy.
In any case, important data should be backed up to multiple hard
drives using simple file copying. If the data is critical enough, you
may want to detach and store the drives in a different location in
case of fire or electrical mishap.
Some would use burned DVD's, but once the data
exceeds so many gigabytes, this gets less practical.
I'm pretty sure you'll get good advice here, but be patient
and I repeat - don't do anything until you've given good
consideration to the advice you get. You do not want to
accidentally perform an action that is destructive to the data.
