I run Windows XP media Centre 2004
I have a built in drive to read memory cards. Previously
when I inserted the card a window used to open which allowed me to view /save
etc. Now however this does not happen... nothing happens - also I noticed
when clicking on My computer the drive does not appear.
I'm sure there is a simple solution e.g. reinstalling drivers?? Am I right??
but I have
no idea how to do this. I'm not an IT expert so any simple direction would be
appreciated.
Thanx. Nis

Look in Device Manager, USB section and uninstall the card reader.
Then, reboot. XP already has the required driver for the card reader
and it may just need to be "reset", which should be done after the
reboot.

I have the same problem and just did what you suggested and nothing changed.
I have checked my memory card (Sandisk) and checked the switch on the side to
make sure it was "on".

Windows explorer (XP_Pro) thinks the device needs to be formatted and yet
can't format it.
