I am running XP SP2 and I have two problems (at the same time!... :( )

1. It used to be that when I click on the search function in the start menu
and then click on For files and folders, a window will come out that allows
me to perform search. But now when I do the same thing, it just hangs a
while and then nothing comes out. I am wondering if it is caused by me
erasing the Indexing Service mistakenly. What should I do to get the search
function back?

2. My Internet Explorer (IE 6.0 with SP2) will just hang when I click on
some particular links (I have tried to figure out the patterns but just
seemed that it was random). After hanging for a while the original website
where the link resides will become active again but the linked website never
come out. What can I do to solve the problem?

I tried to reinstall the IE as well as XP but could not do it. The system
said that I had a newer version than that in CD and so installation could
not be done.

Thanks a lot for the help!

You can disable any tab(s) you want under Tools...Internet Options in IE by
editing the registry. See this site for more information:
http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/797/

Be sure you know how to back up and restore the registry before editing it
if you are not experienced or comfortable doing so as serious problems can
arise from any mistakes made there.
