My IE browser keeps locking up and then restarts my
computer. This only happens when i use my browser on-line.
I can use everything else including my chat services but
when I use IE it is locking up or freezing my computer and
sometimes restarts my computer. It does this when one of
few things happen, Either I type in an address and click
go or a come across a BIG picture on any web site or I go
to an web page with a Java (I think) script or it is a
huge page to load. IE, this happens almost every time I go
to microsofts web site to look in here. Just for
reference, it took me 4 trys to get to here and type this
message.

All current updates and security updates from MS are
loaded. Do I have an graphics problem? My drivers are all
loaded correctly and there are no conflicts listed. My
system is Win98 2nd ED, SYSO KT333 MB, 1150 MHZ AMD
processor, Nivadia Ti4200 video card, 512 MBs MEM, a DELL
21" Triniton monitor and 80 gigs of HD space.

I ahve no virus according to Norton and Housecall.

TKS for your reply. I am running windows 98 2nd ED with
all the security and regular updates from MS. I do not
know what the SP2 stands for? I do not get these error
message all the time, the system usaualy either locks
up/freezes or restarts all by itself when I am browsing
the net clicking on link or pictures or whatever.
IEXPLORER seem to be the most topic I see when I encounter
an error. The error messages that I am getting or as
follows:

A fatal exception has occurred at
0167:BFF883E8
0028: C0011C1C in VXDVNM+00010CK
0028:00000003
0028:C1963774

Plus serveral invaild page faults:
IEXPLORER has caused an invaild page vault in module:
MSHMTL.DLL at 016:635A3F30
USER.EXE
KERNEL32.DLL

I have no viruses occurring to Norton and Housecall
programs. I am running a firewall ZoneAlarm Pro. The only
new changes to my system are a new MB Soyo KT333, new
processor AMD 2.4GHZ and new mem 512 stick by Kingston.
Everything else is the same from my old computer. DVD and
a CD/RW 2 40 gigs HD, Nvaida Gforce Ti4200 video card.

I have also try to do the IE repair and restore but that
hasnt work either. The only thing I havent done is
uninstall IE. If do that, how will I get back on-line to
re-install IE if I dont have an browser to do so? Also, I
can not load Netscape, my system (like it has an mind of
its own) will not allow me to finish the setup for
Netscape. I ahev tried serveral times (10) and can not get
though the entire setup.

USER.EXE is a necessary part of the windows kernel. You can probably do an
install over the existing system to retain your settings and installed
applications.

http://www.generation.net/~hleboeuf/eruser.htm

also.........

Downloaded the JAVA(TM) Plug-in 1.4.0_0.1:

http://java.sun.com/webapps/download/DisplayLinks1.4.1_01.
or
Download the latest Java plug-in from here:
http://www.java.com/en/download/windows_automatic.jsp
KERNEL32.DLL
see

http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers.htm#kernel32_2

or.......lastly.........

You can reinstall the program over itself and you will not lose any files or
data.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps
