i bought one of these and when i installed it i got a nasty looking prompt
telling me there was a "zero Display Service Error", after i click OK, it
seemed to load the rest of the drivers/utils.

Can any kind person shed some light as to what it is and what my pc might be
missing.

I havent a clue and the ATI site has no mention of it.

Im using an ECS K7S5A M/Board
Window XP Pro.
256 mem
120 hd

Thanks in advance,

DAve :)

also ive just been into the bios.............in the plug and play section ,
there AGP SELECT with the options 1x,2x and 4x, but on the graphics cards it
is flashed 8X. Could the graphics card be too good for he mobo.

Hi Dave,

I've also got an ECS MoBo (4x) with a 9600 Pro (8x) in it. The card
runs at 4x with no problems.

Does your MoBo have onboard graphics? If so, the error message may be
just a warning that the on board video has been disabled by the new
card... Just a guess.

What are your BIOS settings? AGP Aperture? Etc.

Paul.

Hi Deek, thanks for reply....my mobo doesnt have onboard graphics - so im
still stuck

is your ecs mobo the same as mine ?

AGP Apeture, whats that....

Note: as I have said in another thread here this board has an agp 2
slot and he is trying to run an agp 3 card in it. Look at the specs
here:
http://www.sysopt.com/reviews/ecs-k7s5a/

As I said in the other thread the latest graphics cards, including the
9600 series run at 0.8 volts ... the agp 2 spec on the other hand is
3.3 volts so his agp slot is providing a lot more current than is
required.

See here

http://www.ertyu.org/~steven_nikkel/agpcompatibility.html

The ECS boards are in general multi-purpose (read cheapies) mobos.
Personally I would not buy one ... my solution is a new motherboard to
go with your great new graphics card ... I have 2 Radeons a 9800 Pro
and a 9600 XT .. I love them both o)

Gah ... I have to go back to bed ... sick .. should read 1.5 volts not
3.3 that is agp 1 .. sigh

so his agp slot is providing a lot more current than is
