Probably 7 years ago, I bought an Nvidia TNT2 video card. It came
with a free DVD player software application that I loved, and continued
to use until very recently. I really loved how it had an uncluttered
interface, and was very easy to access any of the features I used often.
Dragging to go forward or backward also worked better than the
alternative programs I have since tried.
I've tried a number of other programs, such as WinDVD and PowerDVD,
but both I and my wife missed a number of features, and found them
'unwieldy'.
We would still be using NVDVD, except that for some reason it seems
to have stopped working on all 4 of the computers that I had it
installed to over the past year. Previously, it would work fine on
systems that had onboard via graphics, or actual ATI or Nvidia video
cards. It even worked fine on the Intel chipset laptop. It seems
really weird that the program now no longer works on any of them -
almost like it had a built in timer or something in the code that said
not to work after a certain date. Even though I've run the update to
NVDVD 2.5 something or other, every time I try to launch it, most of the
screen goes black, and I am simply looking at an hourglass, and I see
1/4 of the desktop background in the upper left hand corner of the screen.
Currently, I don't have any Nvidia video cards in the house, so I'm
wondering if perhaps it is because I now have ATI video cards?
If anyone has version 3 of the NVDVD software, I'm offering $25 for a
copy of it. It was released briefly before Nvidia decided to no longer
continue development of the software, and I haven't been able to find it
anywhere. I've been looking for over a year now. All I can find are
references to it from people who downloaded it and got it installed once
upon a time.
I would REALLY appreciate it if somebody out there who has either
onboard Nvidia video or a true Nvidia video card could download and try
the software, and let me know if it is working for them:

Total file size is under 5 megabytes. As I said, it worked
flawlessly for me for years, and only recently seems to no longer be
working. File is compressed winrar, and has been scanned by an up to
date version of AVG Antivirus several minutes ago. It has the basic
version 2 install, and then you need to run the update to version 2.55
Please, if somebody can download this and let me know if they run
into the same issues, at least I'll finally know whether it is somehow
just us, or whether the software simply will no longer work for anybody.
My wife is annoyed enough that she can't use the software that it
would be worth it to me to get an old Nvidia card in my PC if only so
that we could go back to using what we are used to.
