I am able to d/l updates from Norton AV and Windows update and connect to AOL
for broadband. I have no firewalls or parental blocks and the status of lan
connection shows sending and recieving is normal, but when I open IE it's
like there is no connection there at all. This has happened on two of my
computers in the last two days. One was about two hours ago after I
installed SP2 and the other was yesterday and all I did was run Spyware
Stormer. I have tried all the ipconfig commands and I can ping any website
successfully. I have checked the hosts file and created new a profile just
to see what happens. I have run Ad-aware and Spybot and checked for viruses.
Does anyone have any advice????????

Advice is to not act so fast next time to download and install an update
when all the bugs haven't been worked out. 95% of posts in this group are
the same as yours for browser trouble after updating to SP2.

Hi,
I hope you didn't pay for Spyware Stormer. See this thread:
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showtopic=8537

Run CWShredder from http://aumha.org/a/parasite.php or
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html It may find something that the
other programs missed.

Additional information at:
The Parasite Fight http://www.aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm

More security tips at http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

Then, for the connection problem, try these winsock repair tools:
LSPFix- all versions of Windows http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.zip

From LavaSoft- all versions of Windows-
http://digital-solutions.co.uk/lavasoft/whndnfix.zip

WinsockXP Fix- WinXP http://www.spychecker.com/program/winsockxpfix.html
Also, with instructions, at http://www.iup.edu/house/resnet/winfix.shtm

And, if it comes down to this, reinstall/repair IE:

Hope this helps,
Don

Only one computer has SP2 on it, the other has SP1. If I wanted a stupid
remark I would have asked my mailman.

Thanks Don, I'll try that.
