I might buy this ACER machine but I need to see the mobo manual
first. I can't find it on the ACER website or via google, which is
strange.

Acer Computer AM3300-U1332 Desktop PC Mfr. Part # PT.SBT02.002

Can someone point me to the mobo manual or at least tell me kow many
SATA connecters it has.

Thanks.

Go to Newegg.

Click an image link to go to the gallery page for the machine.

For example, the motherboard is seen here.

Now, the pictures are pretty fuzzy (negating the idea of having
pictures in the first place), but I think I count four blue SATA
connectors free. And two other connectors (of unknown color) with
SATA cables plugged in. It could be, that the hard drive (mounted
in sideways tray) and one optical drive (up top) are the source of
the two SATA cables connected to the ports near the bottom of the
picture.

An important consideration, would be the capacity of the power
supply. If you planned on filling the computer with hard drives,
or placing a $500 video card in the machine, check the power
supply before doing so. The Newegg advert doesn't mention the rating.
A base machine like that, could squeak by on a pretty small supply,
so if they wanted, they could fit a 300W supply to it.

Based on the 7.1" width of the computer, the rear case cooling fan
could be an 80mm. They have cooling vents all over the place,
and I personally prefer a well defined airflow (like front to back).
I also don't understand, what the flap on the top is for ? It
looks like a place to keep a ham sandwich :-)

As long as that area is water tight, and a beverage spill cannot
get through the area under the flap, then it would be a don't care
for me. I hate cases with lots of top exposure, where water can fall in.
I've had quite a few coffee accidents in my life, so that would be a
consideration for me. A completely solid top, means fluids can just
drip down the sides of the unit, with less chance of entering.

Thanks, but I am still looking for a tech manual, preferably a mobo
manual. I can't find it on t he Acer website. The manufacturer's link
on NewEgg gets me to the Acer main page and I can't find the model on
their website.

Try looking for M3300 instead of AM3300.
