Can you please help ID this Asus mobo?

-------------------
Very recent model.
Based on some new Intel chipset (successor to P35 perhaps?)

socket 775
3 PCI slots
8 channel sound
6 SATA
10 USB ports
2 Firewire

maybe??? "4DchII - 1066" (whatever that is!)
maybe??? similar to the Asus PK5 SE

I am in the UK so maybe it's a UK-market board
--------------------------

I've looked at the chart on the Asus catalogue below but it is
undecipherable to me. I don't even know if it is sufficiently up to date
for the above mobo board.

Try downloading the freeware program SIW (System Information for Windows"
program.

Go to the Motherboard tab and you should be able to get the information you
are looking for.

The link to the download is:
http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html

You may be surprised at the information that SIW will be able to show you
about your system.

I don't have this mobo. I heard about it.

This is what I use for a master list.

http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=-1

This is the closest match I can find. P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP, but
it isn't that recent, as it is based on P35.

http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=1646&l1=3&l2=11&l3=534&l4=0

This page runs in IE, and allows comparing a limited number of
boards at a time.

http://www.asus.com/products_compare.aspx

For example, here is a results page including the P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP.

Hi Paul, your links make it a whole lot easier! The master list link is
a great starting point.

I think the first step for me is to find out which Intel mobo chipsets
have been launched recently.

Do you know anything about those? Is there a list of this sort of thing?

The boards are also listed by chipset here.

http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11

For chronological order, try Wikipedia. The date of introduction
of each Core2 chipset is listed. Whether it is accurate or not,
I don't know. There were a bunch listed for June 2008, with
chipsets like P43, G43, P45, G45, Q43, Q45, and the ones with
P** would be without build-in graphics (need a video card).

(See "Core_2_Chipsets")
