I have published a wedsite using FP I went back in and added some stuff and
tryed to republish, but when I tryed it said that my local and remote
locations cant be the same pick a unique name for my remote location. I am
not sure what i did wrong. I know that my remote location is correct, but I
dont know what changed in my local to make it the same as my remote as far as
i know i never changed anything, I'm lost.

Close all open Web sites, then choose Open Site from teh File menu and make
sure to specify your local Web site.

Then, make sure that Remote Web Site Properties shows the remote Web site.

Ok I tryed that i close every thing went to FP and clicked file open site it
opened my website i went to remote its correct but my local is still the same
as my remote so it wont let me publish anything. What I did was I went back
to my website in design mode and added some stuff to my website went to the
tool bar and to publish and now it wont let me publish because the name of my
local and remote locations are the same how the heck did that happen and how
do i add stuff to my wedsite if it wont let me.....lol

Whichever site you open first in FP is referenced as your local and the remote is the location you
will be publishing to. So if you open the live/remote hosted site first, then it is your local, and
the remote is the local copy on your machine.

I've always found naming the local web the same name as the server to be error prone ... to me at least. It doesn't matter what you name it on your local machine, so I name them something totally different than what's on the server.

So, I might be Publishing from C:\My Documents\My Webs|FRED to http://www.ethel.invalid

Never create a site on your local machine with a .com, .net, etc. extensions or you will have major
problems, as your site will be trying to access it over the Internet.
