I

Oh please asomeone help me!

I messed with "Files types" (trying to solve a problem)
and I ended up removing the assciation which tell the O/S
to run any file that ends with ".exe" As a result, nothing
will run that ends in ".exe", I can't run backup,
restore, or most of my programs.I can't run anything to
fix it. I can login and run internet explorer, and some
other stuff, but its fading fast. I can get to file types
screen. How do I fix this? Oh, please help. Email me at
(e-mail address removed) if you can help..I don't want to
have to do a fresh install, its W2K Server. Many thanks to
anyone who answers,
Barbara

Not sure if this will be the solution.
Open REGEDIT and go here:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command
There should be Value named "(Default)"
with data = "%1" %*
I don't even have .EXE in my File Types list under
Explorer Folder Options.

Thanks for giving it a try. It might have worked too,
execpt that I was unable to run regedit either. Then
someone I work with came up with an idea. He suggested
that the file associations might be user-related, so I
logged in as administrator and I was able to run
everything. I ended up deleting my profile and creating a
new one. Sometimes solutions are right under your
nose..again, thanks for answering me.
