Hi, I have a big problem. I was messing around a friend's computer and in
the Security tab under the Properties of the main hard drive (C), I removed
all the access acounts available (like Everyone and his account) from there.

Now, he can not access anythin in his hard disk and when I try to go to the
Security tab to add Everyone to the list of allowed users the Add button is
dimmed so I can not add anyone to that list and he is very angry with me for
messing around with his computer.

Could you help me, plese?

Thanks

Try booting into safe mode with the built in administrator account and see if
you can correct the perms there.

If not, you may have to do a windows repair using the cd

You were logged on as local administrator, I assume.

Is the advanced button accessible, under Security? You could try to
change the ownership (third tab) to a different user and try again
with security, adding everyone or single administrators back in the
list.

Do you think a windows repair with the cd could help? I have not tried that
because we don´t have the disks, it was preinstalled on the computer.

What do you mean by 'his account'? Do you mean you removed the account
actually in his name and/or the 'administrator' account? If not the
latter. he should still be able to logon as 'administrator' and he
should have the password for that. If he managed to back up the system
state (onto a separate storage media) restoring that would do the trick.
As I suspect he hasn't, or can remember the administrative password, it
sounds like you are basically screwed and will have to do a
re-installation of win2k.
