Consider this URL

http://ibib.443-match.com/n/images/pp_001.jpg

this just leads to a stupid erectile enhancement pill.

But then consider this URL:

http://443-match.com/n/images/pp_001.jpg

This leads to the same stupid erectile enhancement pill.

Now this:

http://ibib.443-match.com/n/images/qq_001.jpg

This leads to the name of the Apache Server being used. Is this just one of the benefits of the Apache Server? Can Windows 2000 IIS be set up to do this? If so how?

I thought people bought www domains. From the above it looks like www means nothing?

www is entirely arbitrary. People can use toasteroven.mydomain.com or
fluffybunnies.mydomain.com if they want.

Not sure what the webserver has to do with it...it's really more of a DNS
thing.

Now imagine that, if the guy that came up with 'www' years ago actually came
up with 'fluffybunnies' instead and the whole world used that as a standard!
Ouch!!

But yes, I agree, it's totally DNS here. Just to add, it could also be the
hostheaders as well, no matter what webserver is used. Apparently, the
image: qq_001.jpg, in that last example doesn't exist and probably getting
the default server page.
