Please...audio skiiping during transitions

I have tried for weeks to save my movie to any format successfully....we have tried nearly all options offered.....our goal is to burn a DVD....saving the movie to DV-AVI is nearest to success, but the audio we layed down skips during most transitions....this is killing us.....desparate for current advice.......thank you...
