and I'm only on 19% of expanding files, disc 4.

I have a core 2, 1gig of memory, so this shouldn't be a problem.

Can anyone help me?????

TIA,

DW

Regardless of processor and memory, the system may well have a hardware
issue that Vista can't resolve.. do you have only screen, keyboard and mouse
connected?

This is a guess, but my impression is that failing to disable your antivirus
before beginning the installation can dramatically slow the file copy/expand
process.

Twelve hours, on the other hand...

GET A MAC!

It was a CD reading problem. I got it installed today, but I think it still
took way too long.

Thanks all!

BTW, maybe some day I'll try a mac, but for now I'm so used to Windows and I
love my laptop.

A clean install can often take less than 30 minute while an upgrade a few
hours.
Since you are using the CDs, it may be longer, but I have never used CDs for
Vista installation.
