SUMMARY

I just want to play my WAV files with whatever Windows uses when it
uses sound effects. How can I do this?

BAVCKGROUND

I have installed QCD player. When I click on a WAV file in
C\WINDOWS\MEDIA then QCD launches and it plays the sound.

However when I select a WAV file to be associated with some action
in an application, then the WAV file plays without any application
being launch. Not even Windows Media Player.

I would like to go through the sound file from time to time but I
do not like to have to wait for the delay while an application
launches.

I have unassociated QCD from WAV file types in Tools > Folder
Options > File Types but I had to select one application so I chose
WMP. Now all i get is WMP launching instead of QCD!

Svend,
You can check your sounds from the Control Panel > Sounds & Audio Devices >
click into 'Sounds' tab > click 'Browse' > click on the sound file > click
the arrow to hear the sound. Also, click into the 'Audio' tab and make sure
your default device is correct.
