Playing sound but no picture

Hi,

I can play DVD's and mpg's etc ok and in WMP or Intervideo or PCfriendly or
powerplay etc etc and they all play and you can hear the sound but there is
no picture at all, just a black screen.

No error msgs either and I have looked into fixing it high and low without
result - soooo - if any one out there has any ideas about what to do to fix
this I would be mightily obliged.

running winxppro with sp1 plus up-to-date with updates on a P4 3.6 with
1.5gb ram - so you'd think it would work right? well it was, but it ain't
now ??????
 
Hi!

Videos are only played by a player software, if the correct codec is
installed to the system. Each video type has its own codec. For example, the
most beloved codec is the DivX codec, for DivX AVI videos (www.divx.com).
Probably this is what you're needing. But you need to know which coded do
you need.

I had the sam problem somehow or another there was a

file that was left out it was A giga pockets file H:/giga
exe file >When i first noticed something wrong there was
sound but no video. I did a system recovery. during the
application recovery I received an error message saying
this giga exe file was missing. ( it gave the file name
and said without it it couldnt install gigapockets.
What you have to do is do a system recovery and
when the error message comes up , leave it on the screen
for it is saying the file belongs in the H drive,there is
no H drive. So you have to change the syntax by going to
run and typing in the file name but instead of typing in
the H you replace it with an F. Best bnet if your not
following this is to go to live support. Took me three
hours for we had to figure it out...Hope that helps>.
