Playing .mov files

How can I play .mov files on my XP Pro computer? All updates are current
(automatic downloads).

For some unexplained reason, I spent a lot of time downloading Quicktime and
it isn't on my computer! I used Search.
 
After you *downloaded* quicktime, did you install it?

Did you note the directory it was being downloaded to, and
the actual filename of the download? If not, start another
download and cancel it after you get the info.

That sucks. Try again.
This time - pay attention to where you save the installer...

Is it not installed? (Start menu --> Control Panel --> Add or Remove
Programs and look through the list of installed applications to see if
Quicktime is listed (or Apple Quicktime - although I am fairly certain it is
not listed in that manner.)
 
I thought I did ... but on those Google threads, it seems QuickTime has to
be "fixed" to run with XP Pro, anyway.

It isn't, nor was in found in a SEARCH

You need a QuickTime compatible utility, but avoid QuickTime. It is a PITA..

Use this instead..
