I asked this question a while back, and the only way I could figure out how
to turn it off is to go in and manually edit the folder.htt file. This can
be harder than it sounds. Took me about 10 tries to get it right. But I hear
there are other shells that you can use. Commander I think is one of them. I
might be wrong. Google for "third party shells for windows" or something to
that effect. Otherwise, I hope somebody pipes up with a simpler answer than
mine!

You can always disable Web View for your folders. Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options... | General | Web View select Use Windows classic folders.

To do the same thing differently you have to do surgery on folder.htt in C:\WINT\web Another way is to remove the association of the file types of the videos. You will no longer be able to double-click them but you can always right-click an Open with... (don't associate).
