I have set up a P2P network between an Xp system and a
W2000 prof system. I initially had difficulty but managed
to get both computers to see each other and to share
files. I cannot, however play network games on the
network, for example both Red Alert and MS Hearts Network
have dropped the network option that I used to have on my
W95/W95 P2P network. It is not just these games, any
other games that have network options will not work on
this network can anyone help?

Hearts in Windows XP is Internet only, John, unfortunately. Microsoft
stupidly decided people would rather play on the Internet than with family
and friends on a LAN. Hopefully the next operating system will return this
option to the users.

As for the other games, I don't play them on a LAN, but would suggest you
look in the Help section of the games or track down the Internet sites to
see how it is done. Remember, update your system - especially DirectX and
all security patches - before attempting to correct something. DirectX 9.0b
corrected some issues.

If memory serves me Red Alert requires 'IPX/SPX' to be installed.

Goto your network properties, and click install, add a protocol there should
be an IPX/SPX one listed install that and you should be okay to go.
