I have Vista Home Premium which is supposed to play DVD Videos. How is this
done? Someone gave me several movies on DVD but nothing happens when I
insert them in the DVD/CD recorder/burner tray. I don't even know where to
look for the information I need. :(

That's not quite right, actually - the DVD decoder software is already on
their system. =)

Maybe you have not selected any default program to automatically play your
DVD movies when you insert them in the tray.

When you have inserted the DVD, open Windows Media Player, Real Player, VLC
or whatever player you have installed on you system.
From the player, locate the drive in which you have your DVD-player and try
to execute it from there.

Good luck!

We did get to watch the DVDs. Couldn't find anywhere in WMP to set it to
come up/open when a DVD is inserted into the drive.

File association menus were pulled out of the player - that functionality is
incorporated into the system Default Programs control panel and the AutoPlay
control panel. =)

then DVD played.

Maybe you should take a look at Ubuntu. Check with Alias and he will help
you convert over. Vista is way over your head.

What specific activity are you trying to perform at this time?

If you click in the Start Menu, the "Default Programs" options will be
listed on the right side of that list.
