What is the problem you're having?
More specifications/information about your problem would be helpful if
you want some help.. like is there an error message or it just doesn't
play the desired files?

Just saying that it doesn't work, is not enough! ;)

hi,
when i put in the cd/dvd the media player would come on and play the cd or
dvd. now the media player will not play at all when a cd or dvd is put in
the computer. however, the media player will play files that were previously
save on my computer with no problems. i can not click on the dvd, vcd, or cd
audio under the play option for the windows media player. if you click on
the play tab and then click on the dvd or cd option, you should be able to
play the medium that you want to play. i do not
have that option on my media player because it is blank.

i have the same problem with my computer. it is unable to recognise any cd
in the drive. however it will play dvds. i have had this problem before and
was able to solve it using a troubleshooter, but i cant remember how it was
done, adn the troubleshooter is now useless. if you have had any response or
ideas regarding this i would appreiciate hearing about it!!!

hi ,

i fixed my problem by going to the control panel. under control panel hit
system then click on hardware and look for device manager. once you have the
device manager open, look for ide ata/atapi controllers and see if you have a
red x marked on the primary or secondary ide channel. if you do, then fixing
the problem is easy. simply delete the red x and the computer will promt you
to re-install the driver back to your computer. hit yes to re-install the
new driver. note: you may have a different name than ide ata/atapi
controllers, so i suggest that you hit all the plus boxes and look for any
red x's. finally, not to plug a web site, but;i went to pcpitstop.com to ran
a free diagnostics test and it told me how to correct the problem. it
did not tell me that this will fix my cd/dvd, however, after following the
instructions, my computer runs great.

thanks for the help, but i dont think i have quite the same problem!! it
didn't work. i think my drive is messed up. nevermind!!

hi , i am sorry about your driver. this is the instruction from the
microsoft site
Code 22
This device is disabled. (Code 22)

Recommended resolution

The device is disabled because a user disabled it by using Device Manager.
Click Enable Device. This starts the Enable Device wizard. try restoring
your computer back to day that you had the driver on your computer and see if
the restore will bring
back your damage driver. use the enable device wizard after restoring your
driver. this is the link to microsoft help and support article :

the article i.d. number is # 310123 and this is the instruction that
pcpitstop gave me to
fix my damaged driver.

About Disabled Devices
Upgrade Your Drivers
DriverGuide has the right driver for thousands of PC devices. FREE!
www.driverguide.com A device might be disabled for several reasons. You may
have intentionally disabled the device because it is not needed, or because
it conflicts with another device that you want to use. Windows may have
disabled the device because a driver was not available, or because the device
required resources that some other device already had claimed. For
information on the meanings of the problem codes, see Microsoft support
document 310123.

Here is an example of when hardware being disabled is normal. Suppose that
you install an internal modem in your system. Typically, the system board
already has two serial ports that might be used for external modems. In order
to install the internal modem, the setup procedure might disable one of the
serial ports.

However, if you are having problems making a device work properly, an error
code above may indicate that the device was not installed correctly, or that
the device driver file has become damaged.

Solutions
If you remove the device, Windows may be able to re-install it properly.
Follow these steps:

Important Note: Make sure you have the required driver before removing the
device! Have your manufacturer's installation disk and/or your original
Windows system disk on hand. Most drivers can be downloaded from the
manufacturer's website as well.
Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | System
Select the Device Manager tab. You should see the device listed with either
a red "X" or yellow exclamation point icon, indicating it is not working
properly.
Right-click the device and select Remove.
Reboot your computer. If the device is working, Windows will detect it and
try to reinstall the associated software.

i hope this helps and try going to pcpitstop and run a full test on your
computer. they should be able to get your computer up and running.
