About Disabled Devices
Upgrade Your Drivers
DriverGuide has the right driver for thousands of PC devices. FREE!
www.driverguide.com A device might be disabled for several reasons. You may
have intentionally disabled the device because it is not needed, or because
it conflicts with another device that you want to use. Windows may have
disabled the device because a driver was not available, or because the device
required resources that some other device already had claimed. For
information on the meanings of the problem codes, see Microsoft support
document 310123.
Here is an example of when hardware being disabled is normal. Suppose that
you install an internal modem in your system. Typically, the system board
already has two serial ports that might be used for external modems. In order
to install the internal modem, the setup procedure might disable one of the
serial ports.
However, if you are having problems making a device work properly, an error
code above may indicate that the device was not installed correctly, or that
the device driver file has become damaged.
Solutions
If you remove the device, Windows may be able to re-install it properly.
Follow these steps:
Important Note: Make sure you have the required driver before removing the
device! Have your manufacturer's installation disk and/or your original
Windows system disk on hand. Most drivers can be downloaded from the
manufacturer's website as well.
Click Start | Settings | Control Panel | System
Select the Device Manager tab. You should see the device listed with either
a red "X" or yellow exclamation point icon, indicating it is not working
properly.
Right-click the device and select Remove.
Reboot your computer. If the device is working, Windows will detect it and
try to reinstall the associated software.
i hope this helps and try going to pcpitstop and run a full test on your
computer. they should be able to get your computer up and running.
