I posted here before and got a response from Echo (Thank
you, Echo, by the way), but unfortunately it did not work.

Here is what I'm trying to do:

Slide 1: Track 1 starts at 00:00
Slide 2: Track 1 continues
Slide 3: Track 1 continues
Slide 4: jumps to Track 1 at 02:47
Slide 5: WAV sound from file plays

I'm having two problems:

1) Sometimes Track 1 just continues through Slide 4
(instead of jumping to 02:47). This problem is
intermittent.

2) When I put the show on a continuous loop, the disc
restarts on Slide 1 but then stops playing at the
transition to Slide 2. I tried putting in "Stop playing
After 999 slides" (instead of 3), but that did not work.

I know that ideally I should download the music from the
disc and insert it from the hard drive, but I need to be
able to show people how to do it this way, if it's
possible.

Thanks again for any suggetions.

Hm. Ok, let's try again.

Nah, let's not. :-) You can see below the various ways I tried to get
this to work, but the upshot is...I can't. The CD track playing in PPT
2002 is just not what it should be, so I think your idea to insert the
files from the harddrive is the best option here.

Sorry I don't have a better solution for you.

First the settings for "on mouseclick" tranisitons.

Slide 1:
a. Insert/Movies and Sounds/Play CD track
b. Yes to "play automatically?"
c. In the Insert dialog (movies and sounds options is what it says on
the top of the box), Start track 1 at 00:00, End track 1 at 03:16 (my CD
track is only 3:16 minutes long, according to that dialog box)
d. In custom animation effect options, Start from Beginning, Stop after
999 slides.

Slide 4:
a. Insert/Movies and Sounds/Play CD track
b. Yes to "play automatically?"
c. In the Insert dialog (movies and sounds options is what it says on
the top of the box), Start track 1 at 02:47, End track 1 at 03:16 (my CD
track is only 3:16 minutes long, according to that dialog box)
d. In custom animation effect options, Start from Beginning, Stop after
current slide.

(I tried setting the start at time in the custom animation effect
options instead of in the Insert dialog, but it didn't work -- that made
the track start over from the beginning when slide 4 started.)

Slide 5:
a. Insert/Movies and Sounds/Sound from File
b. Yes to "play automatically?"
c. In custom animation effect options, Start from Beginning, Stop after
999 slides.

All works well when I move the slides with a mouseclick.

So. Now I add 10-second transitions to all slides -- set the animation
to "automatically after 00:10 seconds" and removed the tick in the "on
mouse click checkbox. Then I went to Slide Show/Set up Show and clicked
"loop until escape." I left the setting at "presented by speaker."

All works as intended!

Ah, nuts. It only works the first time through, though. The second time,
track one stops playing after the first slide, so slides 2 and 3 are
silent. The sound picks up again at 2:47 in on slide 4, though. Sheesh.

Just as a test, I changed the "loop until escape/presented by speaker"
to "browsed at Kiosk."

All works as intended! Ah, nuts, same problem as before, grrr. It only
works the first time through.

Tried various combinations of settings using the Insert dialog (which
you can access by right-clicking the sound incon and using Edit Sound
Object).

Using Loop until Stopped there with no other sound setting changes
causes the CD track to restart at the beginning on slide 5 and play at
the same time as the WAV, so that's no go. Shoot, that happens on the
*first* run through, even.

Using Loop until Stopped there along with Stop Playing After 3 slides in
the Custom Animation Effect Options makes the CD track start over from
the beginning on slides 2 and 3 during the second run through.

And yeah, if I change the Effect Option to Stop Playing After 3 slides
and deselect "loop until stopped" in the sound edit options, Slides 2
and 3 are silent on the second run through.
