I have Windows XP Professional. I had tried, unsuccessfully, to play avi videos. I am using Media Player 9.00.00.3075. When I try to play the video, I can get the sound, but the video is of the demo "Ambiance: Water"

How do I get avi extension files to play correctly?

if i was you i would download the DIVX player. its an excellent player, has a good look, and plays very clear. Also you shoiuld get yourself Nimo Codec Pack, if you cant find it anywhere...theres always Kazza Lite. it will play almost anything and has other goodies as well. good luck

You need the proper video codec to display the video. I have found that
the ffdshow codec can handle just about every avi divx or xvid I have ever
tried to play: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow/ Install the
codec, and Window Media Player will automatically make use of it the next
time you try to play one of those troublesome movie files.

Hope that helps,
Ian.
