Hello,

I copied a cd from a movie I made. I tried playing it on my dvd/cd (Sony)
player in my family room. The dvd/cd player showed an error saying it could
not play the disc. Do I have to play the movie maker cd on a computer with
the movie maker software? I am a novice at this and can use lots of help.
Thanks!!

XP or Vista?

OK...i guess you created the movie with Movie Maker?

did you save the .mswmm project file...or did you
save it in the .wmv or .avi movie format?

If you wish to use a CD...you need software that
can create a VCD (Video CD) and your DVD
player must be compatible with VCDs.

Or...if you have a DVD burner...you could create
a Video DVD. Then you need software that can
author a DVD.

After you post the info, I may be able to offer
some suggestions.

John,

Thanks for your reply. i saved the movie in the wmv. I have windows xp.
After I posted this comment I found a response from you regarding the same
issue. It was about downloading free software for a mdvd..
Here it is:

-- DVD Flick Tutorial
http://beginwithsoftware.com/videoguides/dvd-flick-guide.html

Burn Any PC Video Format into DVD
http://www.freevideoworkshop.com/dvdflicktutorial.htm

To create a basic Video DVD that should play in a free
standing DVD player...try the following...

Good luck.

First...read the DVD Flick Guide to familiarize yourself
with the program.

Open DVD Flick and insert a blank DVD in your burner.

If your computer's Autoplay window opens....just close it.

Click the Project Settings button and go to...Video /
Target format...residents of USA...choose...NTSC /
Accept.

Left click the Add title button and browse to your
Movie Clips and select the ones you want on the DVD.

You can arrange them by selecting one and then use
the Move Up and Move Down buttons.

Left click the Create DVD button / OK / Yes / Yes.

Wait while the DVD is created.

When the text "Finished Successfully" appears you
may close DVD Flick. Now you can eject your DVD
and play it in your DVD player.

At some point you may wish to purchase more
advanced software like Nero, Roxio, Ulead, etc...but
at least this is a start.

I believe this may be the answer. Is that right? Thank you.

OK...that's for a DVD and requires a DVD blank
and a DVD burner. I only mention that because
your asked about a CD.

Use those instructions to create a DVD that should
play in your free standing DVD player.
