DivX Player(tm)
===============
Version: 2.5.2

- - - - - - -
Introduction
------------

The DivX Player is the official player application for DivX(R) video content.
The DivX(R) codec (compressor-decompressor) is an extremely high quality,
MPEG-4 based video codec that is widely known as the "MP3 of video."

You may use the DivX Player to play content encoded in versions 3.11 alpha
and later of the DivX codec. The application will also play other video and
audio content stored in AVI files, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, Windows Media Video,
and DivX(R) VOD video content.

If you have questions about the DivX Player, please visit our web site at
<http://www.divx.com>.

What's new in this version
--------------------------

Version 2.5.2 fixes a bug that prevented the DivX Player from starting up on
non-English systems that use double-byte character usernames. No major new
functionality is added. A full list of changes in this version can be found
at: <http://www.divx.com/divx/player/versions.php>.

Installation requirements
-------------------------

The DivX Player requires the following minimum configuration to run:

* Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP
* Pentium II 450 MHz processor (Pentium III 500 MHz recommended)
* 64 MB of RAM (128 MB recommended)
* 16 MB video card (32 MB recommended)
* 10 MB free hard drive space

(NOTE: Additional hard drive space is required for downloaded movies)

You must also have DirectX version 3.0 or later installed for the DivX
Player to operate properly. You can download the latest version of

Hmm, nearly all players will play AVI files, look at
http://www.pricelessware.org/ for some that are recommended by this
groups regulars.

You will also need the correct codecs for the video, I think
http://www.doom9.org/ has some info on this.

bye,
