Playback of multimedia is too fast.

I have Win pro 2000, IE 6, and whenever I do any kind of media
stream/download,
it plays twice as fast as it should, and the pitch goes up significantly.
CD's are also a problem, the songs are sped up and sound like the freakin'
chipmunks. Please help!
