HELLO ALL. I've been trying to burn avi files to dvd which i finally suceeded
in doing.............B U T............ they will not playback on dvd players,
im using win xp sp2, the program im using to burn is "cyberlink
powerproducergold2"......is there any help out there please??????????????????
thank you indeed !!!!

DVD players cannot play AVI files.

You must use software that will burn the movies as DVD compliant files.
Roxio EZCD and DVD Creator and Nero are two good programs.

Even then, You DVD player may not be able to burn the discs you have created
on your computer.
Each make and model of DVD player is different in this respect. Some will
play both DVD -R and DVD +R disc, others will play only one of the two.
Some units will play DVD RW discs, some won't. Once you have this figured
out, your DVD player may not like certain brands of DVD discs.

cheers mate, i do have a dvd rw drive , and im using powerproducer gold to
burn to dvd-r, will this program automatically convert these files prior
burning?

I am not familiar with the product, however it *should* be able to. You
will know the disc is done properly if there are several folders on the
finished DVD , with names like Video_TS and Audio_TS.
In addition, the video files will have the extension .VOB on the disc.

The avi files have to be converted to .vob files (for DVD). I found a
program that works is "Sonic My DVD". It will convert the files and write
them on disk for you. If you ever copy a DVD be sure you select the "book
type" option. This makes the DVD's playable on any DVD player.

thanks very much for your reply, is "sonic my dvd" a free program and how
do i get it? thanks again!
