When I download music files to my Media Player and play them, often, even tho
they are said to be 128 kpbs at the site I get them from, when I play them,
they play at a far different setting, sometimes around the 50s or 60s, and
the sound is not very good. What causes this and can I correct it?

How are you putting the music files on the MP3 player? Are you using
the Sync feature, drag&drop, copy&paste???

I take the files from the site of origin by right-clicking my mouse and then
clicking on "save file as". This downloads the music file to my storage area,
where I can click on it and play it in either Media Player or Winamp.

When I right-click on the file, click on "Save Target as", and then transfer
it to my computer, I presume it is going to my hard drive C, since I have no
other places.

MP3's are compressed files. Check with the site you are getting them from.
Sometimes MP3's are WAV files compressed and when downloaded they
have a different bit-rate.
