Plantronics USB Headset Won't Install

I have a Plantronics MX500i headset, which comes with a USB adapter for
computer telephony (e.g., Skype) use. The unit did not ship with any
software. Plantronics support says none is needed, that it is "Plug 'n' Play"
with Windows XP.

Not so, in my case. XP detects the new hardware, and launches the new
hardware wizard. I grant permission for it to search online for appropriate
software, but the wizard fails and the installation aborts.

I'd appreciate any guidance as to how to resolve this. I have heard about a
"Plantronics Bulk USB Driver" but cannot find this to download, nor am I
confident that would fix the problem.

TIA.

Have a look here, Earl. There is a driver d'load which may be worth a
try although in other Plantonics sites they insist that it is PC
friendly and needs no specific driver. ??? Good luck with solving your
problem.

Plantronics is not completely correct. Windows XP Sp2 is delivered
with Microsoft Bluetooth protocol, which does not support the transfer
of "audio" over the Bluetooth signals.
