The CD that I received shows 601,784,320 bytes.

The web site says it should be 601,796,608 bytes.

Is there a problem?

Jack

The *.iso image I downloaded is 604,071k . The download window showed
the file size to be 587,692 k. I would appreciate any explanation as to
how the file size increases during the download process!

This increased size may be the source of "isoVCLDisplay error 04"...?

Regards
hg.

Why do you say they are missing? I'm asking because those same programs
were omitted by Karen's Directory Printer when I made a list of the files.

Those programs *are* on my copy of the CD.

Check the CD with the .md5 file posted in alt.binaries.freeware

I verified the directory list from the CD against your pltxt list.

I received the CD from Mark Warner. I'll check with him to see if his master
is missing the files or not.

I also checked to see if there were any files on the CD that are not on your
list and there were none.

In addition, the total of the missing files above added to the CD byte total
does equal the value on the PL web page.

CD 585,172,497
Missing files 15,385,398

I verified the directory list from the CD against your pltxt list.

There are two final lists:

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/ftp/2005PL-CD-All-Files.txt

The text list on the CD has only the files in the "files" directory.

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2005/2005PL-CD-ProgramList-txt.txt

You will find those "missing" files on both files lists.

is missing the files or not.

I also received my copy from Mark Warner. Mark is creating copies
directly from the ISO. Our copies should be identical.

If you open an explorer window you will see the "missing" files.

If you click on the CD's links (the web page links) to those "missing"
files they will be found.

Susan,

I offer my sincere apologies. I was wrong.

It turns out that the problem is actually a Windows 98 bug!

Being an old-time programmer, I usually use the DOS window and DOS commands
to do my thing. It is easier and more efficient for me (please don't start
a flame war) to refer to the file short names.

It turns out that DOS was returning the wrong file names in some cases and
even rejected a valid directory short name as "Invalid directory"..

I was generating a complete file listing of the "files" directory (and
subdirectories) and due to the above bugs, the "missing" files were not
being shown.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi Jack,

No problem. As I believe I noted in an earlier post - I had the
*identical* problem with a list generated by Karen's Directory Printer.

Can you shed any light on why those particular files are affected?

No. I haven't the faintest idea, yet.

I will look into it as soon as I get done throwing all of my computer
equipment into the trash can.

Jack I have the CD and everything checks as advertised, grant you the mvd5
check
does not compute but after checking all the files one by one it is OK so if
you have files missing you have a corrupted download.
If you want a copy of the *original* CD let me know and I will supply.

Thanks, but I apparently do have a good CD. See my previous
message for more.
