Just installed my new cartridges in the above multifunction machine. Up to
now I have been using it only for scanning as I have another printer.

Are the cartridges meant to be uneven when installed? They moved from side
to side and seem to be printing, but the colour photo doesn't print. I only
get a grey background printed less the border. I don't want to keep using
good photo paper till I get this problem sorted.

Thanks for any help given.

What do you mean by uneven? From memory the cartridges in this printer install
in such a way that they are the same in terms of height and position in the
printer.
Did you remove the seal from the colour cartridge?

Thanks Tony for your reply.

Sorry I might have been using the wrong words. The colour cartridge and its
slot seem to jut out further than the black one. They are the same height,
but when looking at them from the front - the black one is pushed in further
and the colour one sticks out more.

The colour comes out because it did a test sheet. Hope that is a bit
clearer. :-)

Thanks again

OK, I was hoping to see one of these over the last few days but no luck. Memory
tells me that there is a difference in the amount that the two cartridges stick
out from the carriage.
If the test print is OK, I assume you mean the nozzle check, the first things
to check are the settings in the driver options. Make sure that you don't have
greyscale checked (if that option exists). Lastly I suggest you uninstall and
reinstall the printer.

Thank you Tony, for all your help.

I ended up ringing Canon Tech Support, and they got me to do a cleaning
routine a couple of times and finally it worked OK.

Thanks again
Katherine
