I did a search but couldn't find anything exactly on point. Has
anybody run tests to see what is the "sweet spot" for printing in
colour? (Note: this is the Canadian one, which I think was identical
to the American. Unlike Australia or other places, it cannot print on
CDs. Now replaced here by the 5300, which can print on CDs.) I use the
Canon inks but generally print on CostCo paper at Photo Paper Pro
because it seems to give excellent results. But I do have Canon paper
for really "special" print jobs.

I have a Canon IP4000 and use Costco Full Sheet Glossy for my main
paper. I tested it against Canon Photo Paper Pro and even after
splitting hairs I could see very little difference. I always use Canon
ink. I do not want to clog the printhead nor do I want more rapid
fading. I also want to get the very best results. I also use Ilford
Classic Pearl and Epson Heaveyweight matte.

The current model is the IP4300. It is very much the same printer as
the IP4000 with an improved ink formulation.
